Tampa Bay YouthBuild

Take your first step in securing your future!
If you are a motivated young adult between the ages of 17 and 24, you can earn up to $5,000 in cash incentives.  Plus, you’ll earn your high school diploma or GED, learn construction and other trades and receive nationally-recognized industry certifications!

Tampa Bay YouthBuild sets you on the path to:

  • Earn your HS Diploma or GED;
  • Gain job skills such as interviewing techniques and resume building;
  • Earn nationally-recognized certifications in the construction industry;
  • Become employed throughout and after the program;
  • Prepare for post-secondary education;
  • Receive training in construction, IT, manufacturing and hospitality trades;
  • Earn money through cash incentives;
  • Gain a support system of fellow youth and counselors; and
  • Prepare you for a life filled with success.

  • Stop by the Science Center between 8 am to 4:30 pm at 7701 22nd Ave N., St. Petersburg 33710 for an application and schedule an intake.

Tampa Bay YouthBuild operates with grant funding provided by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment & Training Administration.

Services are based upon eligibility criteria under DOL YouthBuild guidance. Support documentation may be required.
You are eligible to participate in the program if:
  1. You are between the ages of 17 to 24 years;
  2. A high school dropout;
  3. Committed to being drug free and participate in random drug testing throughout the admissions process and the school year;
  4. A Pinellas county resident; and
  5. A U.S. Citizen or are currently authorized to work in the U.S.
Additionally, to be eligible for Tampa Bay YouthBuild, you must be considered low-income or meet one of the following barriers:
  1. Have a documented disability
  2. Be a youthful offender or working with DJJ
  3. Be the child of incarcerated parent(s)
  4. Be the child of a Migrant Seasonal Farm Worker
  5. Youth or household receives TANF (welfare) or has received TANF over the last 6 months;
  6. Youth or household receives food assistance benefits (SNAP) or has received SANP over the last 6 months;
  7. Youth or household receives Supplemental Security Income benefits (SSI) or has received SSI over the last 6 months;
  8. A foster care youth or someone who has aged out foster care and is receiving federal assistance; or
  9. Household income is below the designated income cap based on family size.

To begin your online YouthBuild registration, please review the steps below and print the “Application Guide” for a quick reference, as needed.

For a New CareerSource Pinellas user:

  • If you have never used the CareerSource Pinellas website, then you will first need to create a user account. To do so, complete a simple registration and click save. Please ensure to provide an email address as the website is in interactive.
  • Your user name and password will be provided to you, but for future reference, it will be your last name (UserID) and social security number (password)
  • Once you complete your user account set up, you will be taken to your CareerSource Pinellas dashboard and in the bottom left green box labeled ENROLLMENT, please click the YOUTHBUILD Registration link to get started.
  • Begin now by clicking on the ACCOUNT link in top right corner of your screen.

For a Returning CareerSource Pinellas user:

  • If you are a returning customer and have previously used CareerSource Pinellas services, please click on the ACCOUNT link and choose the LOG IN link in the top right corner of your screen.
  • Remember your log in credentials are your last name (UserID) and social security number (password)
  • Once logged in, you will be taken to your CareerSource dashboard and in the bottom left green box labeled ENROLLMENT, please click the YOUTHBUILD Registration link to get started.
  • Begin now by clicking on the ACCOUNT link in top right corner of your screen.
